Firefish partners with The EY Foundation
March 6, 2023
It has been a busy start to 2023 at Firefish. As a group of companies, we try to continually look at how we can add more value to the world in which we are part of. Over the course of last year, we were keen to develop our approach further and think about the role we could play in supporting our local communities and donating some of our time to developing a truly rewarding partnership with a local charity or organisation. A partnership that enabled us to make a difference to those that needed our support. And so, we asked our people for their thoughts and ideas to help us shape our approach to this.
Creating positive changes for those around us is something that we not only believe in – but something we feel we need to constantly push and develop in order to make progress. What came out of our conversations were that as a collective group of people across our Group, we felt there were 3 areas that were significantly important to help make change happen – the environment, the youth sector and supporting people from under-represented groups. We started to meet with several amazing organisations – all of who do fantastic work in these spaces and who really brought home to us how we could make a difference. Fast forward to 2023, and we are ecstatic to announce that we have committed to a new partnership with the EY Foundation. This is an important partnership for us, as we take greater steps to work with schools and communities that support and encourage opportunities for those from low income backgrounds. The EY Foundation partnership sits alongside our already established participation in the 10,000 Black Interns programme, and fits perfectly with our overall business objectives, as we develop our early careers outreach activities.
The EY Foundation is an independent charity, created by EY in 2014. They support young people from low income backgrounds who face significant barriers to employment, by providing paid employability skills training, paid work experience opportunities and mentoring. Since 2014, they have supported over 20,000 young people and in the last year alone have created almost 3,000 volunteering opportunities for their employer partners.
We will update you on more of our journey and activities as we go through the year – but for now – we are excited to get started!
